Super 8 Cine Film sound
History of Super 8 sound film

Super 8mm sound film was first introduced in the 1973. To keep the cine film from being thicker on one side than the other the Super 8 sound films somtimes have a "balance stripe." This is a thin blank stripe on the opposite edge of the film from the magnetic sound track that keeps the film level on the reel. Super 8 sound cameras could run at 18fps and 24fps.To play this film format back with the sound track you needed a sound projector which has a tape pickup head built into the projector. The soundtrack on Super 8 Cine films is 18 frames behind the Image frames. Super 8mm sound film is no longer produced by Kodak.

Helpful hint: on Super 8mm sound cine film there is a thin magnetic strip running down the side of the cine film.

Video Image productions perform 8mm Sound Transfer 8mm Cine Film to DVD Transfer and 16mm Cine Film to DVD and video. During this film to video transfer process we employ high quality oxygen free cables to transfer the sound into digital De-noisers to reduce the hiss and rumble of the original sound on the super 8 film and 16mm cine film. Each cine frame of the Cine to DVD or Tape transfer process is scanned using an LED light source. The frames are stored in our Computers. Once the cine frames are caputured onto the computers hard drives they are processed onto DVD, Mini DV tape, or VHS depending on which format you require.
